New Year's Resolutions And Goals

I should start making my goals and resolutions early. I believe my success rate will be higher if I start following my goals/resolutions as early as January 1.

Last year, I started making my list January 2 then added more on January 4. Here's my list:
  1. I intend to post 1 blog post every month at least. (Achieved)
  2. Change my blog theme/template (Achieved)
  3. 30 minutes a day of ME time
  4. Save BIG time
  5. Eat more veggies, AT LEAST one serving per day
  6. Give to charity, maybe I could set aside some money everytime I get my pay check. (Achieved)
  7. Learn a new skill, I haven't decided what to learn this year.
Of the seven, I was able to accomplish 3. The others, not so much.

30 minutes a day of ME time, I did mostly sleep in the afternoon. Not so productive but I work till 4 or 5 AM.

Save BIG time, I was able to save but because of unforseen events in my life like taking a trip with my family to HK, the Habagat 5 day flooding, new laptop, etc., I had to spend the money. However, I do have insurance now so that can be considered as savings.

Eating more veggies is a bit of a hassle for me because it's not practical to buy veggies so only I could eat them. I live alone now. I do eat a lot of fruits though.

Learn a new skill, since I haven't decided which skill I should learn, this one went bust.

This year, I should do the same activities and more. So here's my list:
  1. I'll keep making 1 blog post every month at least.
  2. 30 minutes of ME time, preferably exercise at least 3 times a day.
  3. Save by setting aside 5K a month.
  4. Get rid of credit card debt. I'm close to achieving this, 50% done.
  5. Eat more veggies and some fruit, AT LEAST one serving per day
  6. Give to charity, maybe I could set aside some money everytime I get my pay check. I need to decide the amount I should set aside for this per month.
  7. Learn a new skill. I should learn how to code or at least try. There are resources online and I have been wanting to do this.
  8. Read, or should I say finish reading, 1 book every 4 or 5 months. I should have read at least 3 physical books in 1 year.
I'd like to add 1 international travel this year but I'm not sure if I'd have the time and money. I may need to buy an airconditioner, inverter type, to prepare for the hot summer. Inverter types are a lot more expensive than the regular ones but they are earth friendlier and more energy efficient. My life revolves around making my life better while I work so I may need to prioritize on the airconditioner over international travel.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed. I know I'd have a higher success rate this year because I'm planning to succeed and succeed early in the game. I still need to breakdown each goal in order to make them more specific but this will just be for my eyes only.

Wish me luck!

Presumptuous

I submitted a ticket to a local hosting company asking if they have private registration for domains. This is the answer I got:

Hello,
At the moment our packages have free domain privacy but that may change in the future.
Why do you need domain privacy, what type of site do you plan to run?
Kindly read our TOS at [xxxxxxxxxx]/terms most specially the Acceptable Use Policy.

It's disappointing that they would ask something like that plus give you their TOS at the same time. Their choice of words and manner of delivery makes me think they are suspicious.

I got my domain through Google Apps and the private registration was offered as part of the package, no questions asked.

Oh well... They probably have thousands upon thousands of customers so they don't need me.

This made it easier for me to choose the alternative solution.

Sign the Petition to Oust Sotto

I remember what MEC said, malakas loob ni Sotto kasi nga naman we live in a country where the people put criminals/thieves/rapists in government posts. Although I don't think that he will be ousted even if the signatures reach 1M, I still support this. I think Sotto is a disgrace to our country.

You can sign the petition here.

Hagupit ng Habagat

Hagupit ng Habagat roughly means the violent whip or attack of the Southwest monsoon.

It was even worst than typhoons Jolina (July 2009) and Ondoy (Sept. 2009). We were flooded for 3 to 4 days, almost waist high.

Here are pictures of the flooding inside the house.

My mother, wet look

In the living room,

My mother's floating water bed

Water nearly reached my window
These are pictures taken on Monday evening. The water reached the table Tuesday dawn, higher than what's seen here.

I need to leave this place. Not safe anymore.

Fifty Shades of Grey - Audiobook Version

Why read Fifty Shades of Grey when you can listen to someone reading it to you? There is more emotion in the spoken word.

Outsourcing Jobs

This is a very old video, I found it only recently.

I didn't realize this idea was true until a few weeks ago. I know someone who accepts outsourcing jobs and passes them on to someone (he outsources too). It is somewhat strangely funny.

Saw this pin on a friend's board. She happens to be a freelancer too. I asked her how it's possible to work 4 hours a week and still be rich, she said he outsources.

Enough said.

Please READ

When I was growing up my mother had her way of making me do or look for things. When I ask here where something is, she would tell me to look for it. After looking for 1 minute, I'd go back to her and ask her where it is, she would say, "Use your eyes, not your mouth for look." She did it a few times with me and I learned my lesson.

This has been my belief. I would try to figure out things first before asking for help. If I feel I have been given the tools and the skills and the resources, why not look for the solution to the problem, right?

Of course, it it's something I really don't know, I ask for help.

I noticed a lot of people who don't seem to know how to follow instructions or don't know how to read. I've posted a few want ads online and there's always someone who will ask me what to do when the instructions are shown clearly in my ads.

Example:

We are looking for workers, blah, blah, blah.
Requirements are la d ida...
If interested, send me a message through my Skype ID [[ my ID]] or send me an e-mail [[ my email address]].

I would get a comment like this:

Hi I'm interested. I have worked as blah blah and I have la di da. My Skype ID is [[something]].

Come on! Didn't I give my contact info? Do you expect me to contact you when there are others who have already submitted their requirements?

And there are those who, for some reason, need to be told what to do. I posted the link to my blog where the ad was posted. This is on Facebook. The content of the post didn't show on Facebook, just the link to the blog plus the heading Someone is looking for workers...

Someone posted a comment, "How do I apply?" I think it's pretty obvious that the natural thing to do is to follow the link.

Sigh...

Reminds me of this cartoon from Johnny Wander:

All Good Things Come To Those Who Hustle!

When I was young, I was petiks (slacker) and I procrastinated a lot. I could afford to slack off then since I was young.

Now that I'm old-er, I don't slack off as much anymore. I take advantage of opportunities that come my way, at least those that I think that are worth taking advantage (of). I always think that if I let an opportunity pass, it may never come my way again. The only time I let things pass is when I am sick or not feeling well or if I think it won't be good for me. Sometimes, even when I'm sick, I drag myself out of bed to go to work. Sayang eh. If I miss 1 day of work, I would lose at least a thousand bucks.

I can't wait for people to make things happen for me. If they don't want to make money from my plans, I'll make my plans happen, with or without them.

I can't wait for people to take advantage of the help I offer them. Some people are just too slooooww ww ww to take action even if the assistance being offered to them is free. Some people are just to slow to take action, even if it means their business would prosper with the free help.

Why do I act like I'm in a hurry? I'm 44, I'm not getting any younger. I need to make dreams come true. I have goals I want to achieve and waiting for nothing will not help me at all.

I found this online which I find interesting. These are a part of 7 laws but I'm picking the best:

  • Good things are waiting for you to come to them.
  • Good things come to those who hustle while they wait.
  • Good things come to those who go get them.
  • Good things come to those who expect good things.

Those are the 4 items that I strongly believe in.

Time waits for no-one...

Time is gold...

Opportunity is perishable...

Good things come to those who hustle. Never stop the hustle. Success comes to those who seize it.

Sex Toy Reviewer

I know someone who reviews sex toys as a hobby. She writes reviews in exchange for free toys. Not bad huh?  She's very young, 23 I think and has no experience with a man but she has tested a lot of toys already.

That's her toy, she said it's a Yoo. Here is the caption of her photo:

I have this feeling she's always using toys that she has become dependent on it. I want to tell her that if she gets too hooked on getting her orgasms from toys, time will come she will have a hard time getting off through  regular coitus or even cunnilingus.

Anyway, have fun staring at her photos. Hehehehe.

Work Woes

I'm a homebased freelancer. People who learn of what I do automatically think my life is easy. Very WRONG! Since I don't have co-workers, I am left all alone to fend for myself.

I am working for someone who trusts me so much that he leaves me alone while he does his thing. Ang problema pag kailangan ko ng support or I need clarification, ang hirap nyang hagilapin. Pag nag roll out sya ng bagong information about a new product, gagawin na lang nya without informing me. Akala nya siguro mind reader ako kaya alam ko lahat. It's so frustrating kasi I want to be good at what I do, I want to give the best possible customer experience. Kuha sya ng CEO nya na di rin alam kung paano sasagutin mga tanong ko.

The other person I am working for, supper support naman. Ok sana kaso may kulang sa instructions nya or when he explain things parang hindi ko maintindihan. I think it's a cultural thing and it's not personal but it's really hard. May gusto syang ipagawa at gagawin ko naman. Tapos sasabihin nya kulang eh yung instructions nya kulang din.

One employer thinks I'm sooooo good I can read minds while the other probably thinks I'm stupid because I don't understand him. Hindi ko alam kung matatawa ako or maiinis. Hehehe.

Yan, that's how I've been feeling lately...
